# Navigation and selection

## Orthographic views

Top, Front, and Side use the same basic controls:

* Middle mouse drag pans.
* Mouse wheel zooms.
* Arrow keys nudge selection by one grid step.
* Shift+Arrow clones and nudges.
* Ctrl/Cmd+Arrow nudges by a fixed unit.
* F frames selection.

The pane header shows the zoom scale and current grid size.

## Perspective camera

Hold right mouse to control the camera:

* Move the mouse to look.
* W, A, S, and D fly.
* Q moves down and E moves up.
* Hold Shift to fly faster.

Other controls:

* Middle mouse drag pans.
* Mouse wheel moves forward or backward.
* F frames selection.
* Numpad 1 faces Front.
* Numpad 3 faces Side.
* Numpad 7 faces Top.

## Camera menu

The Perspective **Camera** menu contains:

* Perspective or Orthographic projection
* Free, Top, Bottom, Front, Back, Left, and Right orientation
* Field of view
* View distance
* Skybox
* Preview Lighting
* Brush Wireframe
* UV Checker
* Orientation Widget
* Show Camera in 2D
* Frame Selected
* Default Angle
* Reset

## Perspective grid

The Perspective **Grid** menu contains:

* Show Grid
* Show Grid in Perspective
* Snap Transforms
* Smaller and Larger Grid
* Floor XZ
* Front XY
* Side ZY

## Orientation widget

Click an axis on the orientation widget to face that direction.

Click the center to switch between Perspective and Orthographic projection.

## Object selection

* Click an object to select it.
* Shift+click toggles it in the selection.
* Click empty space to clear selection.
* Clicking a member of a user group selects the outer group.
* Alt+left click in an orthographic view cycles through overlapping objects.
* Shift+Alt+left click cycles and adds or removes.

## Marquee selection

In an orthographic pane, drag empty space around objects.

In Perspective, hold Shift and drag empty space. Perspective marquee adds to the current selection.

An entity must be fully inside the marquee bounds to be included.

## Component selection

Face, Edge, and Vertex tools use visible screen-space markers.

Use Ctrl/Cmd or Shift to toggle several components.

Vertex mode shows the vertices of visible brushes without requiring an object selection first. In an orthographic pane, hold Shift and drag a box to select vertices through several brushes. The marquee selects by screen position, so vertices behind the front brush are included as well.

Double-click can select the boundary around a multi-brush opening. Otherwise, it selects a face strip, a straight edge chain, or a straight vertex line, depending on the active component tool. Edge **Loop** and **Ring** are separate context-menu commands.

In Perspective, Shift+right click toggles an edge or vertex. Shift+right drag still controls fly-look.

## Grid Snap

Grid Snap controls brush creation and transform alignment.

Use the smaller and larger grid buttons when moving between large room shapes and small details.

Keep major structure on a clear grid. This makes carving, matching arches, and later edits easier.

## Texture Lock

With Texture Lock enabled, textures stay attached to the brush while geometry is moved, rotated, or resized.

With Texture Lock disabled, texture projection remains world-aligned and the brush can slide through it. The workspace updates this projection continuously while the brush is dragged.

## Magnet Snap

Magnet Snap can align moving geometry to nearby:

* Vertices
* Edges
* Faces

It is useful when two pieces must touch but are not already on the same grid point.
